Eyelashes are such strange, strange things.

On another note however, Peri Lithon has been updated with it’s first ever post! Do check it out y’all! =D
The results are in: one B and two C’s >.<
I have very minimal hopes for the fourth paper so I’ll just admit defeat here:
I did not manage to Kill ‘Em All.
But I will be back with a vengeance. Just watch me.
I just couldn’t be more disappointed with myself.
Why am I having so much trouble with my courses this year?
Kadang-kadang aku rasa macam akulah orang paling bodoh kat dunia ni >.<
EDIT:
I just found out that I have FOUR midterms this week.
If I pull this off, then I have ridiculously underestimated myself. And if I don’t…well I guess that I did try my effing best at least.
UPDATES:
First Midterm: Wasted opportunity – it was a LOT easier than it could have been, but – ironically – since I did not see such a test coming, I overlooked some “easier” components of the course, forgot some of their key sections, and ended up dropping cheap marks >.<
Second Midterm: I can’t remember when was the last time I did not manage to finish an exam on time. Regardless, it happened again today >.< Undoubtedly I have already lost a whole stack of points – before my paper has even been marked.
Third Midterm: I’ve seen worse Geology exams.
Fourth Midterm: The fact that I barely have time to practice la langue francaise is starting to show >.<
This isn’t turning out to be the best of semesters so far >.< + =(
I just found a picture from my days back at RMC:
God, this picture is SO wrong.
-
Words fail.
And another one:
ALAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YA TUHANKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SELAMATKANLAH HAMBA MU INI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW.
Dulu aku GILA sial.
-
Jap. Hmmm. Actually -
Sekarang gila lagi sebenarnya.
XD
But at least it’s not *that* WRONG. LOL.
Aduhai, apa nak jadi dengan aku ni. It’s a wonder I still have any friends lol.
Alright – picture post mes amis!!
The following are a selection of photos taken by my Olympus Fe-230. The event was a Raya Open House at the residence of one of the wealthier Malaysian expatriates here in Ottawa. The wealthiest, more like lol. Apparently the lady to whom the place belonged to is among those fit to be called the richest people in Ottawa?
But anyway -
N.B: This may be a photopost, but it does not qualify as a Silent Cartographer entry – I’ll do another one of those when I have many more fine(r) pictures to add to my collection. So this blogpost remains a standard entry here at snuffleupagush.wordpress.com.
Rayakan Autumn.
In the mood. For food.
Collage.
Damn, I just love how you can see the full spectacle of Canada’s coloured and glorious autumn seasons here – even with decidedly average pictures.

Then we arrived. We were greeted by the lady of the house, and a few little tykes. Like this one here:
Hold on tight, Alyssa.

Then we ate -

Peek-a-boo. And yes I think I like this photo very much for some reason.
I think it’s Syikin’s blank + smiling + seductive (?!!) look.
Qayyum’s Expression = Priceless.
I like this picture of Dila very much. Both pictures, in fact.

The only other Geologist. Are we the same?
Cheers.
At this point we had already spent close to five hours there. Work called, and our bodies were calling out for a rest. Thus -
Jom balik.
The trek back.
-
Trust me, there are a lot more (hopefully better) photos that I chose not to include – let’s save them for later eh? =)
But for now it’s back to the books for some midterm studying – Quaternary Geology on Monday, Inorganic Chemistry on Tuesday and Stratigraphy on Wednesday. And some lab reports and assignments in between. Fun stuff.
Cheers people! =)

Rasa cam nak nangis sial. Bapak susah second year banding dengan first year aku. Aduh, sikit lagi dah nak give up sial. Ada menyesal gak, sebab aku rasa aku mungkin ada silap skit dalam memilih strategi untuk semester nih – tak patut aku stay-up lama sangat sampai rasa nak pengsan dalam class, and maybe I should not have taken an unnecessary Geology course as an elective.
But I know hope floats.
I know I can do this. Saya mampu lagi: I can still keep my grade-point average up. I can still perform my best in extra co-curricular activities. I can still make everyone proud.
I am working my ass off in everything I am doing. I am trying to stay as pure and as ikhlas as possible with respect to the academic objective of learning new things.
I know God is on my side. Sebab itu saya tahu yang saya boleh teruskan berjuang.
I can do this; I really can. I can Kill ‘Em All, for the fourth time running. I believe.
-
And to think that such rigorous testing is coming from an institution which is only ranked 222nd in the world. Aku seriously takleh bayang nasib-nasib orang yang kat universiti yang lebih tinggi dan berprestij sial.

PS – If any Francophones/crazy French-speaking Malaysians do happen to read this and spot some errors, please do notify the author. He wants to learn as much as possible despite being bogged down by a gazillion labs and assignments for other courses.
Three – almost completely unrelated – second year Geology courses.
Yet another course in Descriptive Inorganic Chemistry.
And trying to learn a new language.
All while trying to fit in some squash training/personal stamina building on a daily basis.
And as of yesterday, newfound commitment to uOttawa’s World Universities Debating Championship team.
Not to mention my volunteer application for the Mineral Sciences Department at the Canadian Museum of Nature. And various other personal obligations – too numerous and ridiculous (sometimes) to name.

Would I have it any other way? But am I trying to do too much?
I don’t think I can keep my CGPA up for much longer >.<

2002 – Salt Lake City.
2006 – Torino.
2010 – …
Now how many of you actually know what I’m trying to get at here? If any of you who are reading do know what’s next in the sequence – and you live in Canada – then good for you, for I am of course talking about the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games!!
2010 – Vancouver.
With only 493 days to go, the preparations for the XXI Winter Olympiad is reaching heights rarely witnessed up here in North America, especially in recent times – THE OLYMPICS ARE COMING TO CANADA!!!
THE
OLYMPICS
ARE
COMING
TO
CANADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
=D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So get your frigging butt out of that mouldy armchair of yours and come on out to Vancouver in February 2010!! Spanning 17 glorious days, (27 if you include in the Paralympic events that take place after the main events are over) the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada promise to be an experience of a lifetime. The Games take place in the world-renown city of Vancouver and the nearby mountain Resort Municipality of Whistler in the beautiful province of British Columbia, beginning February 12th 2010.
Beautiful British Columbia – splendor sine occasu.
Okay so it’s kinda obvious that I’m very excited about this, but I dare you to name one reason why I shouldn’t be.
*PSST!!! Irving! Money!!*
Oh dang you’re right =.=” Fugg.
Sigh.
ANYWAY, (shut up you, you ridiculous internal sense of conscience) as I was saying, I am indeed very excited to have the opportunity of an Olympic event coming to a country that I am currently in. Suffice it to say that i do not think it will ever happen to me again, (I doubt that Malaysia will be ready to host the Olympics for another 20 years at least >.<) so I’m going to take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and actually plan to make it out to Vancouver come the second month of 2010.
Yes, I know it’s expensive and will eat at a sizeable chunk of my time but tell me – bila lagi? When else? With that in mind, I am fully prepared to start saving and making small sacrifices (which I have started doing, dari masa kat Malaysia lagi) to ensure that I can attend the Games when the time comes.
With glowing hearts/Des plus brilliant exploits.
(N.B: Those two phrases are NOT direct translations of each other – the only thing that they have in common is that they’re both from the Canadian national anthem)
So far I’ve started drawing up plans on which events to attend while I’m there, and I have to say I’m spoilt for choice – which is actually remarkable as seeing I have no idea what some of the sports are really like to begin with!! At the moment, at the top of my list are the opening ceremony (ni WAJIB. Bukan sunat. WAJIB), short track speed-skating (try Googling Steven Bradbury to get an interesting taste of what this one is like), alpine skiing, snowboarding, and perhaps a game or two of ice hockey. So many choices, so limited funds huhu.
Speaking of funds, I would say that the prices for the Vancouver 2010 Games are actually pretty reasonable – once you consider that this is an event that only comes by every four years, and that Canada has not hosted an Olympics of any sort for almost 20 years now. For one, more than 100,000 tickets are available for $25, and more than half of them are below the $100 price mark…quite okay I would say. So, essentially, for a couple hundred dollars, one could potentially be all set for the experience of a lifetime in terms of winter sports, and be there when history is (presumably) made! =D
And all this is made easier with the presence of Olympic Experience Packages (OEP), a spectator package that groups tickets into convenient and well-arranged sporting experiences, which are aimed at ensuring a fun and ideal Winter Games for their holders. As of October 3rd, the first phase of ticket booking and purchase has been opened, and will run for five full weeks, all the way to early November. This window is open to Canadian residents only, and is the best chance for locals (or international students in the country) to assure themselves a place in Vancouver and/or Whistler in the near future.
As per standard operating procedure, ticket orders can be made through either Visa credit cards or the mail-based money order system. Be reminded though, that an online account should first be made with VANOC (the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the Olympics), which can be done at www.vancouver2010.com. This site is also THE place to go for information and the low-down on what’s hot and what’s not – do head there if you can spare the time.
And the reason I’m scaring all of you shitless with money talk right now? To increase awareness of this event – so that you can save the money required in time.
So yeah, I’ve made up my mind – I’m going for this one, and I’m prepared to start shrimping my cash all over again…and with a little help from ma mere *grins guiltily* So I’m making a shoutout to all my friends – in particular the Ottawa-based Malaysian scholars – to please make it out to Vancouver 2010 if you think you can; I’m hoping to have company around – where’s the real fun of the Games if there’s no one to share it with? =)
It’s still a little too early to tell, but for those who are equally crazy and excited as I am, I might be looking at booking City Olympic Experience Packages # 1, and Whistler Olympic Package # 4 as part of my planned Vancouver 2010 experience. It would be truly awesome to be able to make it out with you guys if you’re interested.
Quatchi, Sumi, and Miga – Vancouver 2010 Olympics mascots.
So please, head on out to www.vancouver2010.com and check things out for yourself; maybe there will be something that piques your interest while you’re there – and that’s more than enough reason to book your flight for this once-in-a-lifetime event in my humble opinion =)

My Vancouver 2010 journey has already begun; how about yours?
