Despite my having managed to do absolutely nothing by way of studying for the past three nights (I kid you not), quite a few things have happened to me as of late and I feel that they warrant some mention here on this blog.

Item #1:

My flight tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games have been purchased!! =D =D Thanks a lot mum + dad! I will be leaving this 12th of February 2010 to catch a preliminary hockey game, and also some short-track speed-skating. The preliminary hockey game is between Canada and Norway (I’m with the home team of course! ) whilst the short-track event comprises the Men’s 1,000 M and 5,000M relay qualification, plus the blue ribbon event (for me at least) of the Ladies 500 M Final. I will be returning to Ottawa on the 18th of February, just in time for classes which resume on the 21st =)

Item #2:

I had an interview with Goldcorp Inc. yesterday, and I think it went alright, especially considering it was my first interview in over two years. The interview was for one of three open positions at Musselwhite Mine, either in Exploration or Production Geology. The position will be for the summer months, and if successful I will be working a two week shift, just like dad used to do with Petronas. The interview also served as an excellent gauge for my impending interviews within the job market upon graduation, and my self-assessment returns a verdict of “not ready”. There are many areas that I need to improve myself on, particularly on overall cohesion. That said, I will be happy if I get either posting, and have my fingers crossed for some good fortune to come my way from Goldcorp Inc. =)

Item #3:

Apparently Matthew Good’s show this December will not be my third concert ever. It will instead be my fourth, as I have decided to take the opportunity to attend the Star Wars: In Concert event as they make a stopover in Ottawa as part of their tour of North America. I could only afford the cheapest tickets in the house, but I’m very much looking forward to the event nevertheless, having grown up to Star Wars =)

All those repeated plays of my dad’s VHS copy of The Empire Strikes Back…*fond sigh*. Haha!

The event takes place this November 24th at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa =)

Item #4:

At the risk of being corny, I want to say I miss my family and my girlfriend very much =(

I really hope you guys come to Ottawa one day.
