Project: From Sea To Sea
This page is the author’s personal listing of places visited in his host country of Canada over the next few years; of note is the fact that this list is not fixed – in the sense that the author’s travel goals and visiting plans are subject to change over the years due to the ever-present factors of time, academics, and yes – of course – money.
So keep checking back, reading on, and staying tuned folks! =)
MISSION: ONTARIO
2007 – 2011
- YOURS TO REDISCOVER -
Read about how I rediscovered my host country of four years – just because my significant other came to town.

ii.) Toronto (with Prae), May 2010.
iii.) Niagara Falls (with Prae), May 2010.
iv.) The 1000 Islands (with Prae), June 2010.
- ONTARIO GENERAL -
i.) The Town of Cobalt, Temiskaming District (with the Student – Industry Mineral Exploration Workshop).
The cradle of Canadian mining, the town known in its glory days as the Silver City is still an absolute charm. This three hour stop of the author takes you – albeit briefly – around the town of Cobalt and its intricate mining museum.
ii.) National Capital Region and Associated Events:
The heartland and base of operations for Project: From Sea To Sea.
RED BULL FLUGTAG OTTAWA-GATINEAU 2008, CANADIAN MUSEUM OF CIVILIZATION, GATINEAU, QUEBEC.
Read about homemade flying machines hitting the Ottawa-Gatineau skies…and the waters below.
OTTAWA BUSKER FESTIVAL 2008, SPARKS STREET MALL, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
A limited – but still expository – picture based commentary on the 2008 edition of the annual Ottawa Buskerfest.
BYTOWN MUSEUM, 1 CANAL LANE, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
The author’s third stopover in the Great Museum Trek – The Bytown Museum of Parks Canada, which provides a truly startling portrait of the early days of the capital of Canada.
CANADA AVIATION MUSEUM, 11 AVIATION PARKWAY, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
A combined commentary post that deals with both the Canada Aviation Museum at Rockcliffe Airport, Ottawa, and also the Flightworks Classic Air Rallye that was also going on the same weekend that the author visited the museum. Furthermore, as of the 28th of August 2008 this post is also the longest, and most picture intensive – over 100 shots uploaded! – entry ever on this page.
CANADA AGRICULTURE MUSEUM, PRINCE OF WALES DRIVE, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
Stopover number four in the Great Museum Trek, and definitely the most informative! Click to read about agriculture in Canada, and also for pictures of some really cute sheep!
CURRENCY MUSEUM OF THE BANK OF CANADA, 245 SPARKS STREET, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
Read about the writer’s personal account (no pun intended) of his late summer visit to the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada – the first stopover in The Great Museum Trek.

The second museum visited as part of The Great Museum Trek.

The writer’s visit to the Ottawa Royal Canadian Mint facilities.

SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW, PARLIAMENT HILL, OTTAWA, ONTARIO.
The Sound and Light Show – a montage of music, arts, lighting and various imagery – on Parliament Hill; organized by the National Capital Commission.
OTTAWA FRINGE THEATRE & ARTS FESTIVAL 2010.
As the title suggests, this is a performance festival for stage plays and other performance-related items of the fine arts. Although not *technically* a unique-to-Canada/Ottawa event, but still very much fun and a wholly positive experience – so I included it here.
CYCLING IN OTTAWA-GATINEAU #1.
Join the author on his first-ever documentary bike ride in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Destination: Lac des Fees, Quebec.
President Barack Obama comes to Ottawa, and the author was there to witness it all…somewhat.

Already done, but the commentary is still classified as “Coming Soon” – let me recollect my story-telling guts first >.<

Hi Irving,
I happened on your blog by chance and really go into your from sea to sea project. I think it’s a great idea and I’m having a great time reading your impressions of Canada, and Ottawa. You seem to like museums and it just so happens that I work for the Canada Agriculture Museum. I know you were planning on visiting, but if you let me know when, we could plan a special tour if you’re interested. I’m like most people; I love to talk about my favourite things, and the museum certainly rates! Let me know if you’re interested, and the best of luck with the rest of your treck.
Sophie
Hi Sophie!
Wow this is a surprise! This has got to be the most unexpected and unique comment that my blog has ever received, so thanks for dropping by! Thank you for your encouraging words as well; indeed, Canada is a beautiful country, and long-term visitors like me have so much to see and do – the experience thus far has been nothing short of awesome actually!
It’s true museums are all the rage for me throughout these summer hols, and the Canada Agriculture Museum is definitely very high up on my list of “must-sees”! I actually intend to drop by the place sometime this week; I’m thinking either Wednesday or Friday morning. I’m thinking it will make an interesting contrast to the likes of the Canada Museum of Science & Tech and also the Bytown Museum, and am very intrigued to see what your museum has to offer.
So yes I guess I’m very interested actually, and thanks again for dropping by! Please do keep on reading and commenting – it will definitely improve my documentation of the overall “Sea To Sea” experience!
Irving
